You do not need to like Pearl Jam music, but their unique and special sound has outlasted all but the best over the past 17 years. They did this with original songs, little marketing, and great live performances. I don't much care for the other bands you mentioned, but the rock behind Pearl Jam's roll has little relation to those bands, beyond slight similarities in the male lead singer voices.

Really, you should remove Pearl Jam from this list. It detracts from the credibility of the 12 remaining people who, or mice, who ruined your world.testwxtxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14230407895592379641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-234062300591006933.post-52358360597555786422009-05-09T18:29:00.000-07:002009-05-09T18:29:00.000-07:00"Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam started a movement of ..."Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam started a movement of self-serious, white guy rock that has been dismal and morose and needlessly melodramatic. Because of Pearl Jam, we’ve been forced to listen to the likes of Creed, Puddle of Mudd, Staind, Three Doors Down and a slew of other slacken-face maudlinites."

It's irrational to compare Mozart to Saliary as in the same league of musicians. Same with Pearl Jam when compared to those silly bands you quote.

When truly studied, the music of Pearl Jam is infinitely hopeful and positive. They just choose to look at subjects that are depressing: war, poor governance, environmental degradation, miscarried justice, resistance to stupid ideas and summary opinions....

Looking at the dark side of humanity is depressing. But to dismiss it as "nothingness" is silly. Because Pearl Jam explores the depressing parts of humanity makes their hopeful messages all the more illuminating.Dan Breauxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10859415875721568443noreply@blogger.com
